What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a drug-free, non-invasive manual therapy that aims to improve health across all body systems by manipulating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework.

Osteopathy takes a holistic, whole-body approach. Manual ‘hands-on’ techniques are used to improve circulation and correct altered biomechanics, without the use of drugs. It does not concentrate only on the problem area, but uses manual techniques are used to balance all the body systems, and to provide overall good health and wellbeing. Treating techniques include stretching, gentle pressure, and resistance, known as osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM).

Osteopathy treats the cause, not the symptoms. Guillaume will assess and treat your body as a whole; seeking to identify areas of the body that are not functioning optimally then gently easing these restrictions so that normal function can resume.

Why is osteopathy good?

Osteopathic treatments can positively impact the nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems, to improve body function and overall health. Some osteopathic techniques may enhance lymphatic health and bring about internal improvements in the body without needing invasive surgical treatment.
No two bodies are the same and react the same way to a treatment. We believe that combining different technics, the body will react to specific movements an adjust and heal naturally after every treatment.

Different types of Osteopathy

Joint osteopathy

Joint osteopathy is a method of care that aims to restore, through fine and targeted palpations, the balance and functionality of the different systems of the body in order to make optimal its self-regulatory capacities.

Since these systems are all interrelated with the musculoskeletal system (and a problem in one system can affect another), the osteopath sometimes manipulates areas that are far from the painful location.

Joint osteopathy is first recognized for its ability to relieve back pain (musculoskeletal system). It can also treat pain related to poor posture, sprain, sports injury, herniated disc, low back pain, joint problems, scoliosis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fascist, or Lenoir's spine.

Osteopathy can also treat problems with poor blood circulation, disorders of the cardiovascular system, digestive disorders, concussions, genitourinary problems, and lung disorders. In addition, osteopathy treats ear infections, sinusitis, rhinitis, and dizziness.

If you experience acute or chronic pain, a certified osteopath can help. This professional can also intervene after an injury or a major surgical intervention (operation).

Osteopathy can treat patients of all ages, even newborns.

Visceral osteopathy

Visceral manipulation is a type of manual therapy by which the osteopath performs light and gentle movements with the palms on specific parts of the body. Visceral osteopathy restores the movement of internal organs and thus helps to restore balance and facilitate the holistic health of the whole body.

The osteopath uses visceral manipulation to treat a variety of conditions. By pressing some pressure on the body, it helps to encourage the mobility, tone, and movement of tissues inherent in the viscera, connective tissues, and other areas of the body where movement has been impaired.

Cranial osteopathy

Cranial osteopathy can help relieve people with migraines, digestive disorders, sleep disorders, plagiocephaly, ear infections and sinusitis, thyroid gland problems or fibromyalgia. By pressures influencing the micro mobility of the cranial bones, nerves or vascularization, the osteopath releases the accumulated tensions. Cranial osteopathy can also treat babies.
